Mobile Boat Repair & Maintenance in Kure Beach, NC

Professional Boat Service Without the Trip to the Shop

When your boat needs attention, transporting it to a repair facility is not always the easiest option. Off The Chart Marine provides mobile boat repair and maintenance in Kure Beach, NC, allowing many common services to be performed where your boat is already located.

We work on inboard and outboard powered boats at private docks, boat lifts, residences, marinas, and other appropriate locations. From scheduled maintenance to troubleshooting a mechanical problem, we bring the service to you whenever the work can be safely and properly completed on site.

You also deal directly with the owner and marine technician performing the work, providing a consistent point of contact from the initial conversation through completion of the service.

Getting to the Source of Boat Problems

A symptom can tell you something is wrong without necessarily telling you why it is happening. Starting difficulties, loss of power, overheating, electrical problems, and other performance issues can have several potential causes.

Off The Chart Marine takes a diagnostic approach to boat repair. We evaluate the symptoms, inspect the systems involved, and troubleshoot the problem before determining what needs to be repaired. This helps avoid making recommendations based solely on assumptions or replacing components without understanding the underlying issue.

Repair capabilities include:

  • Engine diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Fuel system repairs
  • Electrical system diagnostics and repairs
  • Cooling and ignition system repairs
  • Starting and charging system repairs
  • Steering system repairs
  • Trim and tilt repairs
  • Preventive inspections

If something about the way your boat starts, runs, handles, or performs has changed, contact us to arrange mobile boat repair in Kure Beach.

Maintenance That Helps Keep You on the Water

Boat maintenance is not only about addressing what needs attention today. Keeping up with scheduled service helps protect the systems you depend on every time you use your boat and can provide an opportunity to catch wear or other concerns before they develop into larger problems.

Off The Chart Marine performs routine maintenance on inboard and outboard powered boats throughout the Kure Beach area. We consider the engine, operating hours, previous service, and manufacturer recommendations when determining what maintenance is appropriate.

Services can include oil and filter changes, lower unit service, water pump service, inspections, and other scheduled maintenance based on the needs of your boat and engine.

With mobile service available for many maintenance needs, you can take care of your boat without automatically having to move it from the location where it is normally kept.

100-Hour Maintenance Packages

For many boat owners, the 100-hour service is an important part of keeping an outboard engine properly maintained. The exact maintenance requirements can vary by manufacturer, engine model, operating conditions, and service history.

Off The Chart Marine offers mobile 100-hour maintenance packages for select Yamaha and Mercury outboards. We'll document your engine hours and complete the services included with the applicable package so you have a record of when scheduled maintenance was performed.

Training Backed by Mechanical Experience

Owner and marine technician Dylan Lackey has built his approach to marine service through a combination of professional experience, technical training, and years of hands on mechanical work.

His marine background includes previous professional experience with marinas and marine dealerships in the Wilmington area. Dylan has also completed Yamaha outboard certification training through Cape Fear Community College and Mercury outboard certification training through Mercury's online technical program.

Before working in the marine industry full time, Dylan gained additional mechanical experience working as an automotive and transmission mechanic. That background developed troubleshooting skills that continue to be useful when diagnosing mechanical problems today.

At Off The Chart Marine, that experience is paired with an emphasis on careful work, clear communication, and recommendations based on what the boat actually needs.

Bringing Mobile Service to Kure Beach Boat Owners

A boat that is already stored at a dock, residence, marina, or on a lift does not necessarily need to be transported somewhere else every time it requires service. Depending on the repair or maintenance being performed, Off The Chart Marine can come to the vessel and complete the work at its existing location.

Mobile service can simplify routine maintenance and also make the first steps of diagnosing a problem easier. Once we understand what the boat is doing and evaluate the systems involved, we can explain what we find and what should happen next.

As an owner operated business, communication takes place directly with the person working on your vessel. If a repair is recommended, we want you to understand why it is needed rather than simply receiving a list of parts and services.

Our goal is to give Kure Beach boat owners access to knowledgeable repair and maintenance with straightforward service from the initial diagnosis through the completed work.

Kure Beach Boat repair & Maintenance FAQs

  • 1. Can you diagnose a boat that is losing power under acceleration?

Yes. Loss of power under acceleration can be related to fuel delivery, ignition, engine performance, or other mechanical issues. The symptoms and operating conditions need to be evaluated to narrow down the possible causes before determining the appropriate repair.

  • 2. Does saltwater use affect the maintenance my boat needs?

Boats operated in saltwater can be exposed to corrosion and buildup that make proper maintenance and inspections particularly important. Maintenance requirements still depend on your specific boat, engine, operating hours, and manufacturer recommendations, but how and where the boat is used can be relevant when evaluating its service needs.

  • 3. Can you inspect other systems while performing scheduled maintenance?

If you have a specific concern or have noticed something unusual, let us know when scheduling your service. Routine maintenance can also provide an opportunity to visually identify certain signs of wear, leaks, corrosion, or other concerns that may warrant further inspection or diagnosis.
