Mobile Boat Repair & Maintenance in castle hayne, NC
Boat Service That Works Around Your Location
Getting your boat serviced does not always have to start with transporting it to a repair shop. Off The Chart Marine provides mobile boat repair and maintenance in Castle Hayne, NC, allowing many common services to be completed where your vessel is already located.
We work on inboard and outboard powered boats at residences, private docks, boat lifts, marinas, and other suitable locations. When the necessary work can be safely and properly completed on site, we bring the service to your boat and help eliminate the additional step of moving it to a traditional repair facility.
Whether you need help with a mechanical problem or want to stay ahead of scheduled maintenance, you work directly with the owner and marine technician servicing your boat.
Start With the Right Diagnosis
When a boat develops a problem, the most noticeable symptom does not always reveal exactly what needs to be repaired. A starting issue, loss of performance, warning alarm, or electrical problem can sometimes involve components or systems that are not immediately obvious.
Off The Chart Marine takes the time to troubleshoot the problem before recommending a repair. By evaluating the symptoms and checking the systems involved, we can work toward identifying what is actually causing the issue and determine the appropriate next step.
Repair capabilities include:
- Engine diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Fuel system repairs
- Electrical system diagnostics and repairs
- Cooling and ignition system repairs
- Starting and charging system repairs
- Steering system repairs
- Trim and tilt repairs
- Preventive inspections

Give Your Boat the Maintenance It Needs
Routine maintenance helps protect the mechanical systems your boat relies on and reduces the chances of preventable service issues interfering with your time on the water.
Off The Chart Marine provides scheduled maintenance for inboard and outboard powered boats throughout the Castle Hayne area. Instead of treating every boat the same, we consider factors such as engine type, operating hours, previous maintenance, and manufacturer recommendations when determining what service is appropriate.
Depending on your engine and maintenance interval, service may include oil and filter changes, lower unit service, water pump service, inspections, and other manufacturer recommended items.
Many of these services can be performed at your boat's existing location, making it easier to keep up with
necessary maintenance.
100-Hour Maintenance Packages
For many boat owners, the 100-hour service is an important part of keeping an outboard engine properly maintained. The exact maintenance requirements can vary by manufacturer, engine model, operating conditions, and service history.
Off The Chart Marine offers mobile 100-hour maintenance packages for select Yamaha and Mercury outboards. We'll document your engine hours and complete the services included with the applicable package so you have a record of when scheduled maintenance was performed.

Experience That Goes Into Every Service Call
Off The Chart Marine is owned and operated by Dylan Lackey, a marine technician whose background combines professional marine experience, technical training, and years of mechanical work.
Before starting Off The Chart Marine, Dylan gained professional experience with marinas and marine dealerships in the Wilmington area. His marine training includes Yamaha outboard certification training through Cape Fear Community College and Mercury outboard certification training completed through Mercury's online technical program.
Dylan's previous experience as an automotive and transmission mechanic also contributes to the way he approaches troubleshooting. Diagnosing mechanical problems requires understanding how different components work together rather than simply focusing on the first symptom that appears.
As the owner and technician, Dylan communicates directly with customers about what he finds, what he recommends, and why the work may be necessary.
Mobile Service for Castle Hayne Boat Owners
For boat owners who keep their vessels at home, at a private dock, on a lift, or at a marina, mobile service can remove a significant step from the repair and maintenance process.
Whenever the work can be safely and properly performed at your location, Off The Chart Marine comes to the boat. That may mean completing scheduled maintenance without hauling the vessel elsewhere or beginning the diagnostic process where the problem is occurring.
We also want customers to understand the work being recommended. If we identify a problem, we explain what we find and discuss the appropriate repair rather than recommending work the boat does not need.
Our goal is to give Castle Hayne boat owners a convenient way to take care of their vessels while providing careful workmanship, direct communication, and straightforward recommendations.
Castle Hayne Boat repair & Maintenance FAQs
1. Why does my boat start fine cold but have trouble restarting when warm?
A warm restart problem can have several possible causes involving fuel delivery, ignition components, electrical systems, sensors, or other engine related issues. Because the problem appears under specific operating conditions, reproducing the symptoms and properly diagnosing the systems involved can be important before determining what needs to be repaired.
2. Is it worth servicing a boat that does not get many operating hours?
Yes. Some maintenance requirements are based on elapsed time rather than engine hours alone. Fluids, seals, batteries, cooling components, fuel related systems, and other items can still be affected while a boat sees limited use. The appropriate service schedule should be based on your engine manufacturer's recommendations, operating hours, and time since the previous service.
3. Should I mention previous repairs when scheduling a diagnostic appointment?
Yes. Knowing what repairs or parts have recently been replaced can provide useful context when troubleshooting a problem, particularly if the symptoms started before or after previous work was performed. Providing service records when available can also help establish the boat's repair and maintenance history.
